What this means
You're working 55+ hours a week and doing most of the selling yourself. Buyers read that as key-person risk — they're buying a business, not a job. Cut your hands-on hours to under 40 and the same business can command a notably higher multiple.
How a buyer sees it
A buyer looking at 55-hour weeks assumes the owner is also doing the sales calls, the scheduling, and half the estimating. They'll model 6–12 months of reduced revenue while they replace you — and bake that cost into their offer.

Common questions
How accurate is the WorthCheckup estimate?
It's a directional estimate based on SDE × industry multiple with adjustments for the risk factors buyers price in. It's calibrated against small-business transaction data — useful for planning, decision-making, and CPA conversations, but not a substitute for a formal appraisal. For the $99 report, we back it with a money-back guarantee if you aren't satisfied.
What methodology do you use?
Seller's Discretionary Earnings (SDE) times an industry-specific multiple, then adjusted for owner hours, customer concentration, recurring revenue, growth trend, years in business, documented procedures, and accountant-prepared books. A senior-analyst AI reviews the math and may apply up to a ±0.5x nudge to the mid multiple when the formula misses a named factor. Methodology is reviewed by certified valuation professionals.
What does the Worth Score actually measure?
A 0–100 weighted composite of 8 factors buyers evaluate: financial performance, revenue quality, owner dependency, customer diversification, operations and systems, market position, growth trajectory, and books and documentation. Grades: Exit Ready (80+), Getting Close (60–79), Work To Do (40–59), Foundation Stage (0–39).
How is this different from a formal appraisal?
A certified appraisal from an ASA- or CVA-credentialed professional costs $5,000–$15,000, takes weeks, and is prepared to USPAP standards for tax, estate, or litigation purposes. WorthCheckup is a directional estimate built for owners who want to understand their number and plan — not a certified document. If you need a USPAP appraisal, we recommend engaging one.
Is my data secure?
Your numbers are stored encrypted at rest and in transit. We never sell or share identified data. Aggregated, anonymized benchmarks may be used to improve the valuation methodology. You can delete your data at any time from your account.
